Clair Marlo's debut album was one of the most beloved and highly sought-after albums of the Sheffield Labs catalog, and among the favourite albums of the Hyper Analogue principals. It was an audiophile album with broad popular appeal: the singles "Without Me" and "Til They Take My Heart Away" went multi-Platinum.
With a direct-to-disc album, the sound journeys from musician, to lacquer, to father, to mother, to stamper, to the album.
With this reel-to-reel tape, we cut out two of those production steps, going from musician, to session master, to working master tape, to the final product.
This is as close as you can get to the musician in the studio. With this Hyper Analogue Master Reel, the sound journeys from the musicians to the session master to the working master to the final product.
We also produced a One Step LP, the original recording done direct-to-2track tape by Bernie Grundman who mastered and cut One Step lacquers direct from this tape.
This is available as a limited edition, hand-numbered 45-rpm One Step double album; a 15ips 1/4-inch Hyper Analogue Master reel set; and a Gold Master CD.
